Bitcoin Commencement Speaker Defends Ayahuasca-Fueled Speech, Praises Satoshi

"To be a great investor, you have to be open-minded and look for misunderstood opportunities."

That was Christopher Pan's advice to Ohio State University's graduating class on Sunday, and he's sticking to it.

In an interview with Decrypt, the self-described "social entrepreneur, musician, and inspirational speaker" says he decided to include Bitcoin in his speech because it could be an example of why people should have an open mind.

"I was like, 'You know what? Let me just throw [it] in,'" he says.

"It was just about financial health, of which Bitcoin was my example of something interesting to look at."

Pan, who graduated from OSU in 1999, says he decided to include Bitcoin in his speech because it could be an example of why it's beneficial to have an open mind.

He says he first became interested in Bitcoin in February, when Wall Street firms like BlackRock and Fidelity started investing in spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds.

"All of a sudden, I understood: Wow, we're ready to tip into the mainstream," Pan says.

"This is Bitcoin's IPO moment."
