Executive Director


The Executive Director is the Chief Executive Officer of Sacramento Loaves & Fishes (Loaves & Fishes). The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors and is responsible for the organization’s consistent achievement of its mission and financial objectives.  The Executive Director oversees the administration (including budgeting and personnel), programs, and strategic plans of the organization.  Other key duties include fundraising, marketing, public relations and community outreach. This position involves extensive contact with volunteers, guests experiencing homelessness and/or poverty, interaction with local government representatives, private groups and the general community at large.  The Executive Director will:


  • Act as the Chief Spokesperson of Loaves & Fishes and interact with and on behalf of our guests


  • Ensure that Loaves & Fishes has a long-range strategy which achieves its mission, and toward which it makes consistent and timely progress.


  • Maintain substantive knowledge and interaction with Loaves & Fishes guests, staff, and volunteers


  • Work with the community, local government representatives, and others on the issue of homelessness


  • Provide leadership in developing program, organizational and financial plans with the Board of Directors and staff, and carry out plans and policies authorized by the Board


  • Develop and implement a sound and effective fundraising plan


  • Promote active and broad participation by volunteers in all areas of the organization’s work


  • Maintain official records and documents, and ensure compliance with employment laws, federal, state and local regulations.


  • Keep the Board of Directors fully informed on the financial and operational condition of the organization


  • Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with community groups, organizations, government officials and the general public


  • Be responsible for the recruitment and employment of all staff and volunteers


  • Ensure that an  effective management team, with provisions for succession, is in place


  • Be responsible for developing and maintaining sound financial practices


  • Work with the staff and the Board of Directors in preparing an operational budget, ensuring that the organization operates within budget guidelines


  • Ensure adequate funds are available to permit the organization to carry out its work


  • Execute legal documents with other designated officers. 


  • Ability to support and understand the organizational structure and its functions


Qualifications


Education:  Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree.  Preferably in Social Work

                     Qualifying experience may be considered in lieu of degree


Experience:  Must have experience in managing a nonprofit, preferably addressing issues affecting homeless or other disadvantaged members of the community


Compensation


Salary and benefits commensurate with experience


Loaves & Fishes neither solicits nor accepts government funds
