In an article, which is a part of a series that was produced for Stanford Social Innovation Review (SSIR) by Milway Media with the support of the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, addresses the use of DAFS (donor-advised funds) and how DAF donors are listening to the organizations and people they are trying to help. According to the SSIR article, DAF giving is rooted in the donors' desire for greater impact both in terms of maximizing financial resources for giving, but also for creating a more organized and thoughtful approach to philanthropy, including selecting which nonprofits and projects to fund. SSIR also tackles the tactics that DAF donors use when providing support and collaboration with nonprofits, such as test and learn gifts, volunteering, surveys and focus groups, and expert consultation. The article also advises that for DAF donors to connect the dots in their giving portfolios, they need feedback from the populations they seek to help.
