The nation's first black board chair is stepping down after nine years at the helm of the nonprofit that she helped found, the Boston Globe reports.

"I'm thrilled to leave the Board in such capable hands," says J. Ramos, who is stepping down from the Nonprofit Finance Fund.

The fund, which is funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, aims to improve the way money flows to social good by helping community-centered nonprofits that serve people of color access the money and resources they need to realize their communities' aspirations.

Georgette Wong, who has been on the NFF's board since 2019, says she is "excited to see NFF deepen its commitment to equity and impact in the communities we serve."

"We welcome Georgette's expertise as we expand our support of community-centered nonprofits led by and serving people of color," says NFF CEO Aisha Benson.

Ramos, for his part, says he is "thrilled to leave the Board in such capable hands."
