Land to Sea Speaker Series: Stormwater Management at Public Boat Ramps

A rep for the Cape Cod Association of Preserves tells the Cape Cod Times there's been a "dramatic decline" in the number of homes built in the area in recent years.

That's in part due to the poor condition of many of the roads, bridges, and other infrastructure in the area.

The Association to Preserves is trying to remedy the problem with what it's calling a "master plan" for the area.

The plan, which was approved by the Cape Cod Commission last week, calls for major improvements to roads, bridges, and other infrastructure, as well as more affordable housing.

It also calls for the creation of 1,000 new jobs in the area and the expansion of existing affordable housing.

The Times notes the plan doesn't call for the creation of new housing, but it does call for the construction of affordable housing in areas where existing housing isn't being properly maintained or repaired.

The president of the Association to Preserves says the plan is a good first step, but it needs to be followed by other efforts to improve the quality of life on the Cape.
