One of the world's fastest-growing tech companies is coming to India.
The Wadhwani Institute for Digital Health, or W-IDH, was announced last week by the non-profit Wadhwani Initiative for Sustainable Healthcare, per a press release.
It's a "groundbreaking initiative" designed to "transform the nation's digital health infrastructure," per the release, which notes the goal is to "develop an opensource evidence-based repository of digital health tools and platforms, categorized as Public Goods for Health."
The Verge reports the first phase of the project is to set up a repository of digital health tools and platforms that can be used by governments, private companies, and more.
It also plans to establish "digital innovation labs" that will " facilitate the localization, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of Digital Health Technologies across Institute Government, States, Private Sector, and Academia."
Per the press release, WISH's mission is "to expedite the adoption of high-quality universal health coverage through technology, thus optimizing cost efficiencies and improving patient outcomes."
