Los Angeles won the rights to host the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games earlier this year, and on Monday, the LA 2028 organizing committee announced that the city has reached an agreement with the International Olympic Committee on the dates and venues for the Games, the Los Angeles Times reports.

The agreement, which still needs to be finalized by the International Olympic Committee, will see the dates of the gameswhich will be the first in the US since the 1994 Winter Games in Lille, Francealigned with the dates of the summer games, which will be the first in the state of California since the 2000 Summer Games in Sydney.

In a statement, the LA 2028 organizing committee said that under the agreement, the dates of the games will be determined by the IOC, and that the games will be "a fiscally responsible, low-risk Games that leaves a positive impact on Los Angeles."

The organizing committee said in a statement that the games will be a "once-in-a-lifetime experience" for athletes and spectators, and that the games will have a "positive impact on Los Angeles and the world."
