New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has been named to the Forbes list of the world's richest people for the third year in a row.
The 77-year-old's net worth is estimated at $96 billion, well ahead of the second-richest man on the list, Bill Gates, at $89.5 billion.
Bloomberg's fortune is largely due to the success of Bloomberg LP, which he started in 1981 and has since expanded to include news, financial data, and political information.
