Men in Bogot ?, Colombia, now have a new skill to add to their resume: changing a diaper.
NPR reports on the country's first program for men called the Care School for Men.
The idea for the school came to Juan David Cort ?'s, an educator with the city-run men's hotline, during the COVID-19 pandemic, when mothers often fell ill and left their male partners to take on the housework.
"They called with the pain of losing their partners but also with frustration at being unable to take care of their children," says Cort ?'s.
So the school opened in 2021 to help men learn basic caregiving and household skills and also gain confidence.
In the free one-day workshops, men practice how to change diapers and how to style hair on dolls and mannequins.
In the longer six-to-eight-session programs, students learn to clean a bathroom, iron clothes, and wash dishes.
The training is also paired with conversations about defying gender norms and traditional notions of masculinity.
"Something fundamental that we talk about in the program is that there are diverse ways of being men, without having to fulfill expectations," says Cort ?'s.

In the world of social enterprises, failure is a cringe-worthy moment nobody wants to talk about. But, social entrepreneurs can benefit from their failures.
