A professor at the University of Houston has been named one of the nation's top business leaders, the Houston Chronicle reports.
Mechanical engineering professor Haleh Ardebili was named assistant vice president for Entrepreneurship and Startup Ecosystem.
According to a university press release, Ardebili will "guide and mentor faculty and student startups" and "increasing the commercialization of technology developed at UH."
Ardebili was previously the director of the Cullen College of Engineering's Innovation and Entrepreneurship Initiative.
Ardebili and her team developed a "cutting-edge fully stretchable fabric-based lithium-ion battery, which holds promise for various applications, including potential use in astronauts' gear, military uniforms, and underwater vehicles," the press release states.
Ardebili and her team also worked on a "fully stretchable lithium-ion battery that holds promise for various applications," according to the press release.
Ardebili and her team were also honored with the Esther Farfel Award, the highest honor bestowed on a faculty member at UH.
