Arizona's OneAZ Credit Union is putting its money where its mouth is.
Every time a member uses their debit card at the bank, OneAZ contributes 1 cent to the OneAZ Community Foundation, which in turn gives $190,000 in grants to 38 nonprofit organizations in the state, the Arizona Republic reports.
"These grants are designed to propel forward-thinking organizations that are not only envisioning but actualizing a thriving future for Arizona," says Brandon Michaels, president and CEO of OneAZ, in a press release.
To be eligible for a grant, nonprofits must be registered as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization with programs that resonate with one of the Foundation's new, updated pillars of support: Economic Empowerment and Entrepreneurship: championing financial independence through initiatives in financial literacy, entrepreneurship and inclusive economic practices Community Vitality: enhancing community well-being and cultural richness through access to essential services and programs that foster unity and cultural engagement Developing Future Leaders: shaping tomorrow's leaders today through civic engagement, mentorship and comprehensive professional development
