Dennis Lancaster started out as an English and journalism instructor at Missouri State University-West Plains more than 30 years ago.
Today, he's the chancellor of the school in West Plains, Mo., and the recipient of the 2024 Distinguished Zizzer Alumnus Award.
The award is given to those who "embodies the spirit of this honor," Drury University says in a press release.
"From his humble beginnings as an English and journalism instructor to his current role as chancellor, Lancaster's leadership and vision have shaped the education trajectory, inspiring generations of students," the release continues.
"His dedication to family and community underscores his genuine character and serves as a beacon of inspiration for us all."
