Duke Energy Foundation Accepting Grant Applications

In the wake of Hurricane Florence, North Carolina residents were urged to stock up on water, prepare for power outages, and learn how to communicate better in the event of a natural disaster.

Now, the Duke Energy Foundation is offering $700,000 in funding to help communities prepare for such events, the News & Observer reports.

"Given North Carolina's impressive growth, achieving this will require collaboration with local organizations undertaking critical resilience work across the state," Duke Energy's North Carolina president says in a press release.

The foundation is accepting grant applications until July 12.
