The Landscaping Specialist supports the landscaping contract maintained by PDI at the Pueblo Chemical Depot (“PCD”). The Landscaping Specialist will support and supervise a crew of individuals with diverse abilities in carrying out duties described in the landscaping contract.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
o Maintains grounds of industrial, commercial or public property included in the PDI PCD contract
o Performs one or more of the following tasks:
§ Cut grass using waling-type or riding mowers (less than 2,000 lbs.)
§ Trim hedges and edges around walks, flowerbeds and wells, using hedge trimmers, clippers edging tools, weed whips, etc.
§ Prunes shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth, using shears and other hand tools
§ Sprays lawn, shrubs and trees with fertilizer or insecticide
o Job duties also include the following:
§ Planting grass, flowers, trees and shrubs
§ Watering lawn and shrubs during dry periods using hose or activating sprinkler system
§ Picks up and carts away leaves, paper and other litter
o Follow procedures and direct others in the safe use of chemical cleaners and power equipment
o Follow safety procedures to check electrical appliances and equipment prior to use
o Notify maintenance or Community Employment Manager with recommendations about equipment repair and replacement
Monitor the activities of individuals served to ensure that all safety rules and policies are consistently followed

You must be at least age 21 to be employed at PDI. You must also a pre-hire drug, MVR, and background screen and possess a high school diploma or GED and valid driver’s license. You must be computer-literate and comfortable with technology with well-developed oral and written communication skills.
You must be able to successfully pass certain background screen requirements mandated by the U.S. Government to work on the Pueblo Chemical Depot campus.
You must be able to complete and pass First Aid and other required training.
At least one year landscaping experience and one year experience working with people of diverse abilities is preferred.
