JOB SUMMARY:       The Safe House Enhancement Program Coordinator is responsible for oversight of delivering case management/counseling services for clients and families in the Safe House, with an emphasis on those with a history of substance abuse/addictions. This Coordinator is responsible for the supervision of the Domestic Violence Advocates involved in the provision of direct services to survivors of domestic abuse within the Safe House program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Assist Safe House Supervisor with oversight of 24-hour hotline; case management activities; resident education/support groups and advocacy for the Safe House clients
  • Offer individual and/or group services to residential clients who report a history of substance abuse/addictions
  • Network with community partners and regularly attend professional advisory committees within Ocean County
  • Provide speaking engagements to community partners and organizations regarding the dynamics of domestic violence and the unique needs of survivors who have also experienced addiction/substance abuse issues
  • Provide in-services to Providence House staff about the relationship between domestic violence and substance use/abuse
  • Actively participate in case conference meetings
  • Participate in Supervisor Team Meetings
  • Assist with the preparation of quarterly reports
  • On-call responsibilities
  • Provide direct supervision of Safe House Domestic Violence Advocates
  • Participate in program development, evaluation and planning
  • Interview prospective staff; train newly hired staff and complete staff evaluations
  • Review documentation produced by direct reports
  • Assist with the duties of the Safe House Program Supervisor in their absence
  • Serve on Catholic Charities committees as needed

OTHER DUTIES:  as assigned


Job Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Bachelors of Arts Degree and three (3) years of experience, preferably in domestic violence services or Master’s Degree and two (2) years of experience, preferably in domestic violence services required. CSW will be considered. Certification as a Domestic Violence Specialist by the NJ Board of Domestic Violence Professionals or working toward certification preferred. Domestic Violence Specialist Certification or relevant experience may be substituted for the required degree. Prior experience working with individuals who have experienced substance abuse/addictions preferred; must be willing to attend yearly trainings related to substance abuse and addictions.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS NEEDED:  Valid driver’s license required.

MANDATED PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS:  Providence House is a 24-hour residential program, as such requires staffing at all times.  When accepting a position with this agency it is important to know that the regular shift at the time of hiring is subject to change during the course of your employment, and that at times of staff emergencies or special events you may be required to fill shifts other than (instead of) your regular shift. This may include holidays.
